About The What Podcast

The What Podcast is a weekly show by two veterans of the entertainment media universe with a passion for live music and music festivals. They came together over a love of Bonnaroo and found out pretty quickly that they are not alone. In fact, since launching six years ago, they found kindred spirits all over the world who also love the vibe found only at music festivals.

Each week they share their own stories and opinions, but they also dig deeper and talk to the musicians and industry insiders who make the magic happen. They talk to the lawyers, the label heads, the booking agents, the promoters, the festival founders, the fans, and even the guy who puts the spice in Spicy Pies.

Hosts of The What Podcast: Barry Courter, Lord Taco, and Bryan Stone

Your Hosts

Barry Courter
Barry Courter
Barry spent almost 37 years with the Chattanooga Times Free Press as a feature/entertainment writer. In that time he has been a reporter, columnist, Entertainment Editor and Associate Features Editor. He has interviewed hundreds of artists and entertainment industry people and fell in love with music all over again on The Farm in Manchester in 2002.

Lord Taco
Lord Taco
Though not officially a host, Russ (a.k.a. Lord Taco) handles all the technical details of producing and publishing the podcast, as well as running the website and social media accounts. Basically all the stuff Bryan and Barry don't want to do. He may or may not live in a VW Bus, and he finally earned his spot at Camp Nutbutter in 2019.

Bryan Stone
Bryan Stone
Bryan's been fading in and out of fashion since 1997. A lifelong love of media led to 20 years in the radio industry in both the ROCK & TALK formats. After "jumping the fence" at the inaugural Bonnaroo in 2002 he has been back to the farm every year since, an accomplishment that he is unapologetically very proud of.
