Welcome back to the What Podcast. I'm Barry. That's Brian. That's Russ. Guys, it feels like it's been forever and it's only been a couple of weeks since we've all been together. But ema is it just me? But it feels like it's been a long time.
I always say time flies and it doesn't have anything to do with whether you're having any fun or not. Time just messes with my head every single minute of my life. I I know I get two weeks feels like two months, two months feels like two seconds. I don't know. But good to see you guys.
Yeah. Part of it is because we've probably done some shows where one or the other of us has been missing and that's okay. We all need a break. We're all traveling. We're all busy. but along those lines I kinda wanted to start today with recommending to anyone listening, that they go back and listen to the last couple of shows 'cause there've been a lot of information in there that I I that I keep mulling over.
first of all going back to the Keith Richards, not that Keith Richards, feels like you have to say that every time, right?
Yeah. You do, you do. And that before we get into it, Barry, there was, you know, every now and again there's some snark in our text threads, you know, just sometimes, right? And I can't remember what it was at all, but it was something along the lines where I was like, I don't know what's going on this week. We do anything this week. And then you said something like, Yeah, Keith Richards is on. And I was like, Okay, asshole. Okay. But I I thought you were being a smart ass. Like, yeah, we got Keith Richards on. Like, no, buddy. I'm like, okay.

I went back and listened a second time as I often do and and it's you know, when you're doing it live, you think, Well, this is going really well and then when you go back and listen sometimes to a show, you think, Wow, that was a really good show. I thought it was really good. Well about you, Russ. I know you had to listen to it 'cause you had to edit it so you heard it again.
It was. I've I've listened probably three or four times at this point. But yeah, he is really good and I definitely want to get him back on, maybe closer to lineup, because I think remember he gave us a few artist names to check out and so I I feel like, you know, if that's his job to get people on festival lineups, he'll have some people on that Bonaru lineup next year. yeah, really good stuff.
Yeah, I missed you guys on that one and I find it interesting though, that we're talking about this in particular because we'll get to our own
survey of sorts that we've that we've done. We'll do that on this week's show here in just a little bit. And I was pleasantly, I don't know if surprise is the right word, but ple just happy with the responses about why people listen to the show and where and those kinds of things. And Keith falls into the category where it looks like most our listeners are most interested in. Again, we'll get to a little bit we'll get to a little bit more of that a little bit later on. And he's well known for all his little quirky, this quick reset of of his TikTok and online stuff, minute-long songs, clever rhymes, but it's very gimmicky. It's very, very I don't know what the better word than gimmick is, but and so a lot of people don't like it because of that. Guys, the way people are feeling about Billy Strings, and I'm just kind of puzzled by. I just don't understand why you're so crazy about this guy. To me, that's what everything Jesse Wells.
is for me. Now he's not the picker, but he he can shred. His lyrical content is mind-blowing. Like Bob Dylan would sit down and probably be like, This guy, what is going on here? Like this is really, really, really intricate stuff that is packaged and delivered in a really simplistic, easily digestible package of music. And the Asheville show ran around, saw some some
Parks and some forests and some waterfalls, and then hit the show in downtown Asheville. just blew me away. I mean, favorite well, the all of West Carolina is as bad it can be as about as fun as you want it to be. And Asheville has been one of my favorite southern U.S. cities since the mid 90s. This thing is it's crazy. He does not have the he he's only known for these gimmicky, crazy, clever lyric things that are a minute and a half long.
